Odin is no racer. She is a heavy, long-keeled ocean cruiser built for comfort and safety on the open sea, with simple, robust solutions that can be repaired with what is on board. This is the boat that carried Martin non-stop around the world.

Built heavy, built for the ocean
Where many bluewater boats chase lightness and speed, Odin is built the other way: heavy displacement, a long keel and a hull that sits steady in the water when the weather sets in. The result is a boat that looks after her crew rather than the clock.

Navigated the old way,
built to last
On board, the chart plotter is only a backup. The course is laid with paper charts and a sextant, while AIS is on at all times. The same thinking runs through the whole boat: few things that can fail, and everything you need to manage on your own.
Equipment on board
Everything on board is chosen to survive months at sea with no outside help:
- Windvane self-steering and autopilot
- Furling genoa and cutter stay
- Storm sail track and two spinnaker poles
- 14 sails in total
- 4 × 100 W solar panels and a 20 A wind generator
- 690 Ah AGM battery bank
- Chart plotter, radar, AIS and VHF
- Heating system of about 10 kW
- Sea berths on both sides
- Diesel for around 250 hours
- Provisions for 400 days
- YB3 satellite tracker for position and messages
Simple by design
Just as important is everything that is not on board. Odin has no fridge, freezer, shower, hot water, pressurised water system or watermaker, and no satellite phone beyond the YB3. Fewer systems mean fewer things that can break, and a boat Martin can keep going entirely on his own, in the middle of the Southern Ocean.
