Handing over responsibility for a boat is a matter of trust. That is why certificates, safety training and medical fitness are all in place, on top of tens of thousands of nautical miles in practice.

Martin holds the papers needed to take responsibility on board, as well as the experience:

- STCW IMO-50 · basic safety training
- Passenger and crisis management
- VHF/SRC · radio certificate
- Valid seafarer's medical certificate
- More than 70,000 nm in practice
